As summer now takes center stage, athletes from throughout the BCAA are headed out to college campuses, 7-on-7 tournaments and just about anything and everything that will give them a huge edge.
Having been to many of the off season events, watching the best that the BCAA has to offer, this is now a conference with programs that are standing toe-to-toe with some of the giants of the state.
There isn’t a week that goes by that there isn’t one, two or three BCAA athletes leaving a mark somewhere.
As we are now into the summer routine, here are the 10 rising seniors who figure to continue make a mark. We will also spotlight other top performers throughout the summer:
1. Tracy Howard, CB, 5-10, 170, Miramar: Easily one of the best in the nation, here is a quality football talent that continues to turn heads at every stop. He is truly a national recruit.
2. Malcolm Lewis, 5-11, 185, Miramar: There is no player who has made a bigger leap than this exceptional receiver who has leaped into the national picture with his ability to make plays.
3. Avery Johnson, WR, 6-2, 180, Ely: Still committed to attend LSU like his brother (Patrick Peterson) did, it has been a busy spring and summer for this gifted athlete.
4. Jelani Hamilton, DE, 6-4, 250, St. Thomas Aquinas: The most recent University of Miami commitment, here is a quality football player who gets up for the big games and has established himself as one of the best nationally. You have to love his passion for the game.
5. Kevis Jones, OLB, 6-2, 220, Northeast: Is there a more gifted and athletic football player in Broward County this coming season? Not one that plays quarterback, running back, tight end, receiver, defensive end and outside linebacker.
6. Danny Isadora, OL, 6-5, 335, Cypress Bay: As he continues to get in shape, this could be one of the more dominating big men around. Is tremendously strong and quick. Big things are predicted from this talented football player.
7. Devonte Mathis, WR, 6-1, 215, Miramar: A one time quarterback prospect who has put himself in a position to make some major strides this coming season as another weapon the Patriots have to unleash.
8. Justin Ferguson, WR, 6-2, 200, Flanagan: On his way to play for Notre Dame, Broward’s most surprising receiver a year ago continues to get and makes a statement this coming season in a very tough district.
9. Dami Ayoola, RB, 5-10, 195, St. Thomas Aquinas: One of the best running backs people hardly ever mention, this is a four year varsity player who has speed, power, great vision and continues to be an impact player every time he takes the field.
10. Kameron Davis, OL, 6-5, 285, Boyd Anderson: One of the more athletic big men in the state, he has gotten better and better and put himself in a position where all colleges are looking in his direction. Has great footwork as well as a passion for the game.
