Plenty of senior talent gets ready for the season

With kickoff classics getting started this week, ushering the 2010 season, we have come up with a BCAA senior pre-season all-star team.

While being on this list isn’t an automatic college scholarship or a trip to any all-star game, it is a group of senior players who have worked hard in the off season to earn pre-season recognition.

We will update this list at the end of the season, so those players at BCAA member schools still have the chance to make this list.

QB: Jake Ruduck, 6-2, 185, St. Thomas Aquinas: This University of Iowa commit showcased his many talents last year. Expect him to do much of the same this season.

RB: Orville Reynolds, 5-7, 170, Douglas: Headed to Wake Forest, this exceptionally quick (4.3) runner has more than proven he is one of the best around.

RB: Kevin Grooms, 5-10, 175, South Broward: One of the most electrifying runners who has the chance to win the rushing title. Also makes an impact in the defensive secondary.

WR: Rashad Green, 6-0, 180, St. Thomas Aquinas: This FSU commitment has done nothing but great things for the Raiders since coming in from Georgia at the start of his junior season.

WR: Phil Dorsett, 5-10, 170, St. Thomas Aquinas: From the time he came to the school, this is a player who has used his impressive speed and athletic ability. He committed to the University of Miami.

TE: Daniel Ring, 6-3, 220, Cardinal Gibbons: A versatile member of the Chiefs, who can play a number of positions on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Has plenty of potential.

OL: Bobby Hart, 6-5, 298, St. Thomas Aquinas: This FSU-bound standout brings plenty of athleticism to the Raiders this season after two productive years at Cardinal Gibbons.

OL: Scott Boyett, 6-6, 290, South Broward: After moving in from Montana two years, he has now settled in as one of the top prospects around. Had a very strong spring and summer.

OL: Jared Maldanado, 6-3, 280, Hollywood Hills: After two impressive season, he now comes back for a third season as a leader for the Spartans as they go after a district title in 2010.

OL: Dwayne Montgomery, 6-4, 255, Dillard: One of the most underrated big men in the area, here is a player who made some major strides over the past year to get better.

OL: Dominick Lopez, 6-1, 300, Taravella: This two-way performer comes back with a chance to become one of the best line prospects in the BCAA. Was singled out many times for his play as a junior.

PK: Luckenson Bernadin, South Broward: Make no mistake, when it comes to the best senior kicking prospect, it may not be close. Here is a gifted prospect who already made a 56-yard field goal in a game and has displayed an enormous leg!

DEFENSE
DL: Nile Lawrence-Stample, 6-2, 280, Nova: Headed to FSU, this one time linebacker standout continues to turn heads with his quickness, strength and athletic ability. He hasn’t come close to reaching his potential.

DL: B.J. DuBose, 6-4, 240, Northeast:
One of the most impressive athletes around, this could really be a breakout season for this one time basketball standout who has emerged on the football field.

DL: Shaun Ward, 6-2, 225, Boyd Anderson: One of the elite members of this class who originally committed to Maryland and then switched to the Big-12 and Texas A&M.

DL: Wilkins Brutus, 6-3, 225, Blanche Ely: One of the top prospects on a unit that should be one of the most impressive in South Florida. His speed, quickness and athletic ability have really emerged.

LB: Ryan Shazier, 6-2, 202, Plantation: One of the most gifted football players around, this impressive talent will be headed to the University of Florida, where he is expected to jump right into the mix for the Gators.

LB: Conard Johnson, 5-11, 205, Blanche Ely: This recent transfer from Dillard has already proven that when it comes to making plays, he can do it all. A quality student/athlete who will turn plenty of heads in 2010, and has the chance to lead the county in tackles!

LB: Kent Turene, 6-3, 225, Boyd Anderson: One of the most impressive defensive football players in the BCAA, this USC commitment has had a huge spring and summer that has taken him across the country to play the sport.

DB: Wayne Lyons, 6-1, 190, Dillard: On the radar screen for two seasons now, this impressive student/athlete not only gets it done on the football field, where he makes plays all over the place, but in the classroom as well, where his grades are among the best in the school!

DB: Jeremy Cash, 6-2, 190, Plantation: This Ohio State commitment has been turning heads since he came to the school last year and helped the Colonels become one of the best defensive units in the area. Will play safety once again.

DB: Marcus Roberson, 6-0, 175, St. Thomas Aquinas: Make no mistake, wherever this quality talent went during the spring and summer, everyone watched and was totally impressed at what he does to make a team better.

DB: Allen Ramsey, 5-11, 175, Dillard: After watching players throughout the spring and summer, many agree that this Wake Forest commit may be the best defensive back prospect in the BCAA. He has it all on the football field.

P: Justin DuVernois, St. Thomas Aquinas: How often do you find a player who gets little or no exposure as a junior, but attains a scholarship? Not very often, and this University of Illinois commit really turned heads with a solid off season.
