It's Miami-Dade and Broward!

All season long, I have been writing about the top players in the BCAA, and the response from the athletes, parents and coaches has been impressive – to say the least.

As Damian Huttenhoff I spoke about the column, we felt that having it run year-round, throughout the school year, will give everyone a chance to have something positive written about their school and athlete.

While the column has been mostly about football, and will continue to have a number of gridiron-related information, I will also add some other sports into the mix, with winter winding down and spring getting ready to take center stage.

But this week, it's Miami-Dade/Broward week in South Florida. The 305 vs. 954. It's neighbors and friends split down the middle as the 12th annual event will take place on Friday evening at Traz Powell Stadium at 7:30.

With over 100 players appearing in the game, it's a great way to cap off a season that included a state and national title from St. Thomas Aquinas as well as strong performances from Miami Northwestern and Miami's Gulliver Prep.

The Broward team is perhaps as impressive as it's ever been, and I have followed everyone of these border wars since the game started.

Deerfield Beach head coach Art Taylor has certainly put together a very impressive squad that will test the 305 this year. Imagine, three of the best quarterbacks in the county in Denard Robinson (Deerfield Beach), Eugene Smith (Miramar/West Virginia commit) and recently added Chris Schrippa of Cardinal Gibbons.

The Broward squad boasts University of Pittsburgh-bound running back Jason Douglas of Cypress Bay with versatile Victor Marc (USF) of Hallandale.

There are a number of players already committed and looking forward to heading off to school in the summer. Players such as St. Thomas receiver Duron Carter, who is following in his father's footsteps at Ohio State, and Hallandale running back/receiver Korvic Neat, who takes all that speed to Mississippi.

The defensive secondary is loaded with D1 talent – with Ricardo Dixon of Hallandale (USF), American Heritage standout Brent Singleton (MINNESOTA), and Northeast twins
Isaac Geffard and Jacob Geffard (LOUISVILLE).

"We are all looking forward to unleashing some of this talent in the game," said Taylor. "I know the players are really looking forward to the game."

In addition to Smith, Robinson, Schrippa, Marc, Dixon, Neat, Carter, Douglas and Singleton, there are 29 other players who competed in the playoffs as well as this post season contest.
